HIKING TIPS FOR OUTDOOR FUN

SWITZERLAND - A NATION OF HIKING ENTHUSIASTS

200 million hours. Can you imagine that? No! That's the total amount of time people spend hiking in Switzerland, per year. Switzerland: a nation of hiking enthusiasts – fair enough! Ramblers in these parts like to take one-day trips best of all and spend an average of three hours getting from A to B - not counting breaks for a refreshing drink and a sausage and cheese salad. It's just as well that the hiking season is about to start, because SIGG has a few suggestions to hand.

THE CLASSIC

Rigi Kulm – Rigi Staffel – Rigi Kaltbad: Items aren't referred to as classics for nothing. They are well-known, popular and perennial favorites. This applies equally to high-altitude hikes on the Swiss Plateau as well as to SIGG's Traveller aluminum bottle. The latter has meanwhile been around for over 40 years. And they have even more in common: both are made in Switzerland and neither will leave you huffing and puffing. Four kilometers in an hour carrying a 130-gram bottle - nothing could be easier!

FOR SPORTY TYPES

Hammersbach – Höllental – Zugspitze: Climbing the highest peak in the country once in your lifetime is not that hard in Germany. The Zugspitze is 2,962 meters high, and the cable car ride takes weary day-trippers to the summit in just ten minutes. Experienced hikers scale the 2,200 meters with crampons on their feet, a helmet on their heads and a SIGG Sports bottle in their backpacks. Its ergonomic shape, the handy Sports Top and lightweight aluminum make the hike no less challenging, but drinking from it is easy.

A GENTLE WALK

Burgwies – Burgwies: The walk starts where it ends. Starting at the Burgwies streetcar stop, it follows the Werenbachtobel path, taking in the unique landmarks and curiosities of Zurich. These include the elephant in the Elefantenbach stream or a plate of "Zürcher Geschnetzeltes" (a traditional Zurich veal dish) at one of the numerous restaurants along the way. If you want to become a bit of a unique curiosity yourself on this trail, we recommend drinking in style from the SIGG Original bottle. It fits in every typical city dweller's jute bag, is leak-proof and brilliantly designed.

A WALK FOR WINE CONNOISSEURS

Trittenheim – Minheim: A culinary hike along the Moselle river in Germany is ideal for those who enjoy a break or two. Between the riverbank and vineyards, you'll be able to enjoy excellent hiking and, above all, exquisite wines. Wine tastings at local wineries need to be well prepared for. That's why professionals take their lunch with them in the SIGG Lunchbox. Available in two sizes and with a removable divider, it has plenty of space no matter how big your appetite is. It is microwaveable, making it a must-have for all those who travel by camper.
